Carp Fishing Socials
St Johns With Tom Maker Social
St Johns – Our BIGGEST EVER Social!
To mark our one year anniversary at CFS we held our BIGGEST and BEST SOCIAL!
Arriving at St Johns linear on the Friday morning, all the anglers had a chance to meet each other ready for the walk round… Once we had the go ahead we took a lap of the lake to see if we could see any carp and give everyone a good idea of the swims and what water they commanded.
We then went back to the social area ready for the draw. The draw was watercraft, for those who don’t understand, if you pick ball number 3, your 3rd to chose your swim etc. With St Johns holding carp to over 45lb everyone was looking forward to getting the rods out!
Everyone headed off to their swims with their Korda and mainline goodie buckets raring to get fishing!
Peg 10 kick started the social landing the first fish of the social that day, a mega cool scaley carp at over 28lb!
This got everyone buzzed for the social, seeing a fish out so early was a great sign.
Although we were faced with tricky conditions at the lake, it didn’t stop the anglers catching, as that morning we had another 4 fish to photograph up to 31lb 14oz!
Alex Westwood joined us late on the first evening due to work commitments, and slotted into an empty peg, however this didn’t stop him… he put in a lot of work and effort and was rewarded with a new personal best! A unreal looking carp at over 37lb! – You da guy!
On that Saturday morning we was joined by no other than Tom Maker himself, he took a lap of the lake, done a meet and greet, and had photos with anglers. He even got in on helping land fish for them too!
Alex then went on to catch another two carp putting him clear in the lead of the ‘most fish trophy’… for now….
BBQ TIME! At 2:30pm all the anglers reeled in and headed round to the social gazebo where our ‘BBQ Guy’ Dom cooked us up a top notch bbq! Free beers and soft drinks, music playing, sun was out, what better day ay!
Lets just say there was smiles all round and everyone had a mega time!
The last night soon approached, although this was quiet on the fish front, spirits were still high.
Early hours of the final morning I was awaken by Heather and Chris as they had a carp in the net… with fish showing all over them they was hoping to nick another one or two before the trophy presentation! Within quick succession they landed another but unfortunately it wasn’t quite big enough to put them in the lead – what a great little competition though!!!
Overall the social was mega, 45+ people, loads of unreal carp caught, PBs smashed…
We finished the social with a few trophies, biggest fish going to Alex with a 37lb+ carp, and most fish to Alex AGAIN!
